The beginning, the middle, the time she painted her room fluorescent green...
Shannon stood on the soft carpet of her bedroom floor, eyes fixed on the bare, dark blue walls. It was the itch, the need to do something impulsive. Most of the time it meant adopting a new hobby or project, she was of course proficient in the art of dabbling. A quick look around the room and you'd quickly see that this was the den of a creative. Every bookshelf was lined with clutter. The unbaked sculpture of a frog, a music stand that often doubled as a coat rack, several papier-mâché animals, or perhaps a cutout sewing pattern which she always meant to finish but always lost interest. In fact, she often abandoned projects such as one partially painted parrot, a mural now the only wall decor. There was only one artistic pursuit she never shook, despite her best efforts to explore other career paths. After three years in the tortured pursuit of animation, she could no longer resist the urge to become a pixel perfect, Comic Sans hating, #0047AB-is-my-favorite-color, kind of person, aka a graphic designer. On this day, however, she felt especially inspired. This would be the first, most daring, and thought-through artistic decision she'd ever made. It was bold, bright, and whimsical. "Green," she thought "it will be green". A large roller plunged into a can of paint. The smell quickly flooded the basement room. It would be a successful statement against the boring beige movement, (a color she hated almost as passionately as baby bell peppers). A square foot of the wall was now dripping in fluorescent green, and it was fantastic.
